WOSS Fall Finale 2016

Jenna Pearce

The end of summer signifies the beginning of school, and likewise Fall Finale signifies the beginning of winter. The school hosted a celebration of Fall on the 24th of November, it was filled with music, beaver tails and the biting chill of winter as it begins to take hold.

The event began at three, and we all assembled in the cafeteria for an evening to enjoy. However, almost 10 minutes into the event the fire alarm went off, and the evening came to a halt as everyone moved out to the front of the school and all the White Oaks attendees were ushered onto the lawn to wait out in the cold for the all clear to be called.

When the doors were opened again everyone rushed towards the doors and the warmth the building offered to everyone who had been standing in the cold. The music was kept loud and the spirits high after the interruption.

Plenty of delicious food was served at the event. It was arranged that a Beaver Tail food truck come and park itself outside by the front doors for the enjoyment of those who attended Fall Finale, however a factor that detracted from the enjoyability of the event was the amount of money required to get food to eat. The average cost of a Beaver Tail was $6 and many felt that it was simply too much.

The event had some fun activities: A photo booth with a beautiful fall light backdrop to fully commemorate the fun in a photo to look back on. If you craved something other than a Beaver Tail there was candy-floss for a dollar. Water was also on hand in case the dancing become a little too rigorous and the dancers needed to rehydrate. The coordinators had thought of everything you could possibly need to keep the night running and the party goers happy. There were balloons on the dance floor and hula hoops. The music was fast-paced and it’s tempo encouraged everyone to dance.

Overall the event was highly enjoyable for all who attended. However, if it were to be at all possible, maybe next time student council could find a way to include the cost of some food in the ticket price so that the guests could enjoy some form of complementary food to allow for the evening to be equally. The event was a success, and allowed for a proper send off for fall, and pleasant greetings to the winter months to come.
