How This Election is Affecting Americans

Eruj Hotay

Throughout this rough and tumble campaign, people around the world have seen Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump go head to head when it comes to foreign policy, women’s rights and more. Everybody has wondered what effects this gruesome election will have on America after it’s over. However, has anybody thought about how it is affecting the citizens of America currently?

One of the worst implications of the existence of a negative byproduct from the election is as though people are constantly forgetting to treat one another like human beings. Completely failing the test of basic humanity.

Trump has repeatedly stated that the election is ‘rigged.’ Blaming the media for being biased towards the Clinton campaign. He, on many occasions has called out the CNN reporter who is covering the Trump campaign, Sara Murray at his rallies, in front of hundred of thousands of people. Resulting in her being followed by Trump’s supporters to her car and being harassed everyday throughout the campaign.

At rallies all across the country, it becomes more and more difficult to deliver speeches and talk about what’s important due to all the interruptions of young protestors. Young kids, in their teenage years would start to yell and shout. As soon as they would start chanting and criticizing, many people, grown men and women would start grabbing these small teenagers, trying to punch them and start using racial slurs as if it was all right.

It goes both ways. At rallies like in San Jose, protesters would stand out in the streets and look for people wearing “Make America Great Again” merchandise one by one and would start to punch and kick them. These people weren’t even treating each other like human beings anymore.

As you can see, the biggest question is, will America ever recover from this heinous campaign trail? Will Americans ever be able to trust one another again?
